Laurie is a graduate of Colorado State University-Pueblo. She studied Mass Communications with a double emphasis in new media and radio broadcasting. She participated in Associated Students' Government, residence life as a resident assistant, the multicultural center, Upward Bound residence life as a resident assistant, the college radio station, Rev89 as an on air personality as well as a co-host for the morning show, and the cheerleading squad where she served as captain. She also interned with KRDO News Radio during the weekends. During her senior year, Laurie won the “Service to the Department” award within the Mass Communications department for her enthusiasm, service, and positive attitude within the department. Laurie was also awarded “Most Valuable Performer” for her work within the athletics department. Lastly, she was crowned homecoming queen for CSU-Pueblo.
Laurie has 12 years of pageantry experience under her belt as a competitor, judge, emcee, and director. Back when American Ambassadors was just getting started, Laurie served as the first Miss Colorado Ambassador in 2008. Throughout the years, she held multiple state and national titles within the American Ambassador system. In 2017, Laurie was honored to become the National Director of the American Ambassador Pageant and hopes to help grow the pageant for many years to come. Laurie is also the director and owner of the online pageant, Bright Futures Pageant which has been in existence since 2012. With her experience with online pageantry, she has been able to bring more opportunities to people who would like to compete for an American Ambassador title but are unable to travel to Colorado. Outside of the pageant world, Laurie works as the Technology Manager for different K-12 online schools. Laurie is a co-host on the popular podcast, "That Podcast with L.Piddy & Jon Jon". She also works on multiple projects in regards to producing and creating content under LPiddy.com
